Sundering

She sits as his last breath rises. His soul, energy, life-force hovers goodbye. No, she says. Rising, it disperses, turning into universe. No, she cries, how will I know you? Out near another galaxy it flinches. Gathers. Returns. Reenters her atmosphere. Ignites.

  8. Ooo, a sci-fi love story. Or maybe heaven is light years away? Or maybe this is the moment the narrator becomes a soothsayer. So many possibilities. When I get home, I want to try to draw pictures of souls hovering goodbye. What does that look like?
